Call for Abstracts

Call for Abstracts is now closed!

Abstracts are requested on the following topics listed below for the 2007 Defense Manufacturing Conference. The theme for the conference, “Superiority and Affordability as Requirements... HOW Do We Get Both?” will address the performance requirements of the warfighter, present and future, and the ability to respond rapidly and effectively to a wide range of possible threats. Concurrent discussion on the issues impacting affordable manufacturing of these superior systems and platforms will be offered as part of the agenda. Pre-Conference Schedule

Submission can be made in one of seven Topic Areas: (ABSTRACTS MUST BE UNCLASSIFIED, PUBLIC RELEASABLE, AND NON-PROPRIETARY)

Submitters must select only one presentation topic from the above list.

Upon submission of an abstract and all necessary information, an automated acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to the primary author (submitter) via email. If an acknowledgement is not received within 24 hours, submitters should contact DMC '07 Call for Abstracts Coordinator.

Each submission will be reviewed by the sub-panel chair of each topic area.

Submission Requirements

  1. All Abstracts must be submitted electronically using the online abstract form. The following information is required:

    • Title of Presentation
    • Topic Area
    • Author(s) name, title(s), address(es), telephone number(s), fax number(s) and email address(es)

  2. Abstracts submitted should be no longer than 200-500 words and should contain a description of the completed work or work in progress.  In a minute or less a reader should be able to learn the rationale behind the study, general approach to the problem, pertinent results, and important conclusions or new questions.  Economy of words is important throughout any paper, but especially in an abstract.  However, use complete sentences and do not sacrifice readability for brevity. Keep it concise.

  3. Abstracts must be received by Universal Technology Corporation (UTC) no later than Friday, July 27, 2007. Conference planners request that, in order to facilitate technical review, abstracts be submitted as soon as possible. A late submission will not allow time for proper review by the sub-panel chairs and may result in the rejection of an abstract. Letters of acceptance or denial will be emailed to the primary author (submitter) of the submitted abstract, by Friday, August 24, 2007.

  4. Authors will be responsible for obtaining all necessary approvals and releases from the appropriate personnel.

  5. Conference attendance is limited to U.S. citizens and those individuals who meet the registration certification requirements.

Presentation Selection

If your abstract is selected for presentation at DMC '07, you will be requested to submit presentation materials to UTC in electronic format no later than Friday, November 16, 2007. Upon acceptance of your abstract, specific instructions for technical preparation will be provided.

This will save critical time as each new presenter takes the floor.
