The Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel’s sustainment/readiness thrust is hosting six DMC '07 technical sessions, spanning three days and emphasizing the below identified themes.  As a minimum, technical paper submissions must designate alignment with an established session theme. Competitive abstract submissions should demonstrate relevant sustainment/readiness contributions being made and/or anticipated to be made within an identified topic area.

  1. Sustainment Process Modernization: Invited speakers will showcase leading edge process and/or business advancements that have or could facilitate substantial logistics support cost reductions, involving weapon system maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities and/or requirements.
  2. Manufacture for Sustainment: Presentations emphasizing this theme will demonstrate revolutionary methodologies, capabilities and/or advancements that can be exploited during weapons system manufacturing and engineering development (new or mod/upgrade), resulting in a reduced sustainment burden and/or enhanced mission readiness.
  3. Aging Systems and/or Life Cycle Cost Optimization: Selected papers will demonstrate enabling sustainment solutions, approaches and/or strategies that can affordably facilitate extended weapon system life with assured mission viability.
  4. Affordable Remanufacture: Relevant abstracts will demonstrate leading edge approaches/processes which have been affordably inserted into weapon system sustainment operations, enabling fielded systems to remain in service beyond their established design life.  Submitted abstracts will showcase depot transformation success stories associated with organic and/or commercial repair centric activities establishing world-class, end-to-end, remanufacture solutions which have enabled high value assets to be affordably returned to service, leading to increased readiness and reduced cost for ownership.
The panel’s sustainment/readiness thrust looks forward to receiving an array of papers for consideration. Last year, 18 papers were selected for presentation, resulting in a robust sustainment technical session agenda. Technical papers associated with commercial sustainment, e.g., trucking, airlines, sea freight, etc., are welcomed and considered highly competitive. The subpanel is committed to cross-fertilization and to reducing the warfighter's logistics burden. We want to hear about your sustainment ideas and/or successes, emphasizing relevance with the JDMTP community!
